at the top winners and great performances. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, michelle and frank. i can tell you it was a great night when it comes to music. now, let's talk real quick about that memo that went out from the grammys. it seems like people who are participating got that show memo not to dress too revealing or show any body parts so it was subdued. there were surprising wins and some phenomenal performances. >> reporter: the grammys lived up to its reputation for being unpredictable when mumford & sons took home the album of the year. >> we figured we weren't going to win anything because the black keys have been sweeping up all day and deservedly so. >> reporter: dan auerbach of the black keys took home four trophies including producer of the year and three in the rock categories. fun made a splash this year, as well. the trio won two grammys including best new artist and song of the year.

>> and the grammy goes to, "we are young." >> she said we and we were like could this be us? do you remember? >> yeah, we are -- >> it still could have been we are never getting back together. >> reporter: gotye took home three grammys, but it was harder to tell if he was more excited about the statues or the fact thattist idol prince presented for his record of the year. >> a little bit lost for words. to receive an award from a man standing behind us here with the cane, many years listening to his music growing up a big reason i was inspired to make music. thank you. >> reporter: the trophies sure are nice but it's usually the performances that the fans remember the most. ♪ [ music ]♪ taylor swift got things started with a mad hatter rendition of her hit single, we are never getting back together. ♪ [ music ]♪ >> reporter: and what better way to make a comeback, justin timberlake used the industry as

biggest stage to relaunch his music career. and the good times carried on after the show. the grammys official after party was at the adjacent l.a. convention center. and for that one, they transformed it with a theme of an indian "bollywood" party, with belly dancers, gymnasts and good times. >> and a great show here on cbs, too. tell us about some of the interesting collaborations that were on stage. they grew up together some bands you probably wouldn't have seen. >> reporter: there were interesting duos here. for example, you had alicia keys performing with maroon 5. she picked up the drumsticks. she was drumming. she started singing her girl on fire song which is quite catchy and epic and also you know you had bruno mars sting and rihanna doing a tribute to bob marley and other groups singing

just below freezing in santa rosa at 31. 37 in san jose and 48 degrees in san francisco. high pressure the dominant feature here. it will stick around the better part of the weekend just a huge dome again building in along the west coast and sending any chance of rainfall well to the north so we're staying dry. temperatures around seasonal for this time of year usually in the 50s and 60s a every give or take a few degrees it will be right about that by the afternoon. we have much warmer days ahead. we'll talk about that coming up. let's check the roads with elizabeth. >> we have some good sized delays now over at the bay bridge. we have word from a kcbs phone force member that there is a stall on the upper deck. they are working to clear it now but it is blocking one lane in the center anchorage portion of the upper deck so this is what it's doing behind the pay gates. so far those middle fastrak lanes are still getting by okay because they have not activated the metering lights yet but i have a feeling that will change any minute so in the meantime the outer cash lanes are backing up beyond the first overcrossing. elsewhere to our maps now, and it is pretty slow-and-go especially on highway 4. check out that stretch from a street

toward lone tree way. also kind of sluggish if you're heading towards the richmond/san rafael bridge. they have a little bit of late running roadwork on westbound 580 approaching the toll plaza. so we are checking to see the number of lanes blocked. it was supposed to wrap up that overnight roadwork by 5:00 this morning but again we are still hearing there may be some lanes blocked. elsewhere bart running about 48 trains so far all on time. and a quick check outside again here's a live look at the nimitz 880 near 66. it looks okay past the oakland coliseum. they are working to clear what sounds like a large boulder. that's what we are getting word from chp northbound 880 approaching fifth. that's traffic. back to you guys. >> thank you. a manhunt continues in southern california for the ex- lapd officer who allegedly killed three people. a citing in northridge was a false alarm. it's been eight days since police say christopher dorner killed two people.

the grammys were or high alert. officials announced a $1 million award. it comes after the search winds down around big bear for the former l.a. cop. the lapd is re-opening the circumstances of his firing. >> if he was to give up, we would be glad to listen to what he has to say. >> dorner claims he was fired for reporting a fellow officer for excessive force. the last clue investigators have of dorner as whereabouts was thursday when they found his burned-out pickup truck near the big bear mountain resort. the man suspected of killing a 13-year-old suisun city girl is due in court wednesday. anthony lamar jones of fairfield was ahe is ared friday. he is suspected of killing genelle conway allen who was found a week earlier in fairfield's allan witt park. restraining order documents obtained by the fairfield daily republic suggest jones had grown increasingly violent in the days before the murder. in the documents jones's

estranged wife described a recent incident in which they were together in a car. she says lamar jones said, i don't want to scare you, i have a knife and gun and don't want to die alone. she jumped out of the moving car. the restraining order was issued february1, the day conway allen's body was found. texas governor rick perry is here in california trying to lure away businesses while' high-profile tech company is setting up shop in the silicon valley. kpix 5 reporter elissa harrington is down in sunnyvale where go daddy is about to open an office there. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the building is right behind me and as godaddy.com opens its first building here in the bay area, texas governor rick perry is going to be trying to lure california businesses to the lone star state. this follows an ad launched last week that says texas is wide open for business. >> building a business is

tough. but i hear building a business in california is next to impossible. >> reporter: texas governor rick perry is in california and what he wants is for businesses to either set up branches in texas or move there altogether. he is doing this as californians face record high taxes. in texas, there's no income tax and more lean why aren't labor and environmental laws. california has also one of the highest unemployment rates in the country at 9.8%. perry hopes that companies will move to texas for example like facebook and ebay even though they are headquartered here in the bay area, they have opened campuses in texas. chevron has also moved 800 jobs to houston. despite the ad and this swing through california, governor brown does not seem to be too worried about perry's visit. >> should i liken it to when you stand by the ocean? no. it's a big nothing. a lot of these texans that come here they don't go back.

that up out of the ravine. looks like the driver is going to be okay. >> that's good to hear. 6:15 right now. let's check the roads here in the bay area with elizabeth. >> okay, thanks, guys. it's monday, back to work for a lot of folks and so far, things are looking okay at the san mateo bridge. pretty much moving at the limit. but our usual spots we start to see slower conditions are starting slow especially in the east bay so again this spot looks pretty good. elsewhere, westbound 580, that is one of our slower spots coming through the altamont pass into livermore. drive time in fact from the altamont pass to the dublin interchange about a half hour right now. and this is the commute direction of westbound 580 eastbound by the way looking good. no major incidents there. we just learned they did wrap up finally that overnight roadwork across the richmond/san rafael bridge. for a while, there was some late-running roadwork on westbound 580 approaching the toll plaza. several lanes were blocked. they were doing some roadwork overnight. anyway, it's all gone now. westbound 4 definitely one of our slower spots. a lot of brake lights past

those antioch exits from at least a street to lone tree way through pittsburg-bay point everything in the clear. for the silicon valley drive, if this is your commute, westbound 237 so far in the green between 880 and 101. no major delays so far as you head out towards zanker road. and 280 is moving fine through downtown san jose but once again they are going to start to activate the metering lights beginning tomorrow morning for the morning commute. quick check of the bay bridge. so far no metering lights. kind of surprised. they cleared the stall from the upper deck approaching the center anchorage but so far it looks like it's just the outer cash lanes backing up. middle lanes fastrak so far, so good toward the bay bridge toll plaza. that's a check of your "timesaver traffic." lawrence, the big question for you is: any mock turtlenecks for the next seven days. >> i can't see it happening yet no major storms on the horizon. cold temperatures, dress warmly especially in the morning hours, a little frosty to begin again today if you are stepping outside. we have mostly clear skies all

the way to the coastline. but as we head toward the afternoon, we'll find sunshine even toward the beaches. temperatures going to be cooler there. but really right around seasonal for this time of year. then a warming trend is going to kick in. this huge ridge of high pressure will dominate our weather all week. we'll see an offshore wind by the end of the week so dry and mild as the storms will head well to the north over the top of this ridge keeping us dry for some time to come. so enjoy the weather. can change in a bit. looks like sunshine will be here and the central valley. 64 sacramento. 60 degrees in fresno. 39 in lake tahoe. i think as you head around the bay today we'll find temperatures in the low 60s in the south bay, 62 in san jose, 59 in pacifica. and east bay temperatures running into the 60s inside the bay temperatures in the 50s and 60s this afternoon. so looks like a nice afternoon. temperatures a little cool approaching the coastline. but we should begin to warm up newsily. by the end of the week, no rain in sight, but we could see some

of those temperatures heading near 70 degrees as we get into thursday and friday and the weekend is looking super too, how about that? >> i like it. >> 70 degrees? >> almost. >> getting close. >> february? we'll take it. >> like to see some rain but we'll take what we can get. >> no, we'll take the sun. the governor of mississippi plans to tour tornado damaged parts of the magnolia state today. this is a look at amateur video of the twister as it made its way through the college town of hattiesburg yesterday. it caused some damage in three counties but there are no reports of major injuries. police there declared a state of emergency and asked all students not on campus to stay away from the university for the time being. in the northeast, nearly 150,000 homes and businesses remain without power after that massive snowstorm over the weekend. most of them are in massachusetts. >> the power went out and the man said, well, if they could get here, it's an easy fix. >> some areas were pelted with

near the west bayshore road. the detectives also are investigating some possible links to another armed robbery that happened back in january. the police commission in san francisco will hold its final hearing on tasers this evening. the pilot program would arm 100 officers with tasers as a nonlethal alternative to reduce gun use. critics are concerned about the taser's safety. meeting is tonight at 6:00 at the bayview opera house. another look at traffic and weather. a little frost on the windshield this morning, it was cold. >> over the weekend, you know, some ice forming all around the bay area and looks like we'll see more of that. we'll see frost and cold temperatures but warmer weather ahead as high pressure is going to start to build in. outside now, beautiful beginning to the day. hardly any clouds in the sky out over the bay right now. and the temperatures cold if you are heading out. you have seen some of the frost over the weekend more of that this morning down to 31 degrees below freezing in santa rosa. 37 degrees in san jose. and 46 degrees a little milder

and temperatures seasonal for this time of year. a warming trend on the horizon. some numbers near 70 in the latter part of the week. huge dome of high pressure sending the jet stream well to the north. that means all the storms continue to track in that direction. we are going to keep things nice and dry and rather mild for this weekend week ahead. we'll see an offshore wind latter part of the week. nice and clear not so across the rest of the country. we are looking at showers into houston snow could cause problems into denver, more snow in chicago and rain on top of the snow could cause problems in new york. around the bay today, temperatures in the 60s and the south bay. low 60s in many of the valleys, as well. mostly sunny skies, temperatures 61 in san francisco, 59 cool in daly city, 63 in santa rosa.

next couple of days may cool temperatures down. >> not a raindrop in sight. >> no accidents or hot spots. any accidents are quickly cleared to the right-hand shoulder. so we are seeing congestion unfortunately so you are going to get stuck in a bit of a backup if you are traveling westbound 580. a few brake lights anyway and some of these speed sensors are below 25 miles per hour as you make your way westbound towards vasco road. drive time 40 minutes through the dublin interchange. we have a camera approaching tassajara. headlights difficult to see but it's slow from our sensors as well as you head out towards the dublin interchange. and then things pick up. closer towards the castro valley why. a lot of brake lights in the

the grammys last night and kpix 5 reporter liam mayclem is with us again from los angeles. and liam, you projected to tell us about all the after parties. >> you know what? so many after parties. here's my after party all access pass that got me to my favorite club bed. i recommend it. but all the talk last night was all about the fashion. this year something new a memo about a dress code from cbs. no bare breasts, no thongs, no see-through clothing. but not everyone got the memo. >> as you can see, i read the memo. >> reporter: from j-lo's leg in a dress split all the way up to there to katy perry's cleavage, there was plenty of skin shown tonight at the grammys both on stage and off. >> beautiful and one of the first dresses i put on and i said like that's the one. >> reporter: the new cbs policy warned against showing too much skin on music's big night. but for some, this is the grammys not the oscars.

remembered at this the 55th grammys, the late great dave brubeck, born in concord, and he played with sf jazz so many times the academy took five for dave brew bic at the big night. there was a big football star colin kaepernick. you know him, you love him. he was at a couple of grammy parties, surprised people knew who he was. he came for "a" listers. he got an elister, cathy griffin. but it could have been worse. i got to hang out with a favorite band the trio from new york city, fun. they won a couple of grammys last night. finally, to give a little love to kerry underwood another grammy winne one of the women who came out winning strong wearing a $30 million necklace. >> i love it. that's what i love about watching the grammys for the

performances and fashion even. they looked good even though some didn't follow the memo. >> reporter: a lot of talk was about the memo. listen, the rock and roll awards, the grammys, everyone dresses more edgy than any other awards ceremony so risque things are bound to happen but at the end of the night it was about the music. that's why people were here. the music was great. it crossed boundaries and generations and everyone had a rocking time. the 55th grammys did not disappoint. >> i hope colin kaepernick actually got to hobnob with someone else besides cathy griffin. >> reporter: oh, really? well, you know, i hope so. no, i hope he did, frank. he was actually talking to the press a lot at the clive davis party. if you see him when he plays games and he comes on the field, he always has his headphones on, you know, and when they are going off on training but he was here to party because as you know, in a week from now, 49ers are back in training so he is enjoying a little time off. but i do know he partied more than me here at the grammys this weekend.
